AMSTERDAM – The Water Revolution Foundation—a grouping of global superyacht sector yards aiming to slash their sector’s ecological footprint—reports a rise in the number of products agreeing to cut environmental impact through third-party verification.

It hails this as a clear sign of the industry’s commitment to sustainability.

The Amsterdam-based WRF says its ‘Hub of Verified Solutions’ features products that contribute to more efficiency, cleaner processes, less environmental impact, and waste benefiting superyachts’ average operational profile.

Its list of third-party verified solutions is growing. The WRF runs a Hub of Verified Solutions Until recently, its list of ‘Verified Solutions’ included several products. It has since stretched to fifteen, each boasting product descriptions and a third-party Life Cycle Assessment that led to the products’ verification.

For instance, AkzoNobel’s Awlgrip coating is rated as “a top-tier polyurethane, sprayable topcoat renowned for its unmatched blend of hardness, micro-scratch resistance, and repairability. With its durable and repairable qualities, maintenance becomes simpler, and colors are ensuring precise matching.”

WRF says Awlgrip’s HighDefinition Technology is up to 55.5% less harmful to the environment than its conventional Awlgrip Topcoat. It also featured:

The Hull Vane (by Hull Vane BV); Explore E8 & E9 (OceanLED); Hempaguard X7 (by Hempel A/S); Magellan 630 Extra & Giraglia 633 Extra (by Boero YachtCoatings), RecondOil (by SKF Group); Fendaskin (by DEFENDA LTD); Marine Inverter Air Conditioning with Direct Refrigerant Expansion (by Termodinamica LTD), Permanent Washable Air Filters (by Fundamental Marine Developments), and Air Vortex (by Attested Rigs).

The WRF had these institutes apply the ISO-standardized LCA test to the 10 products so far in its Hub of Verified Solutions: Tetis Institute SRL (University of Genoa spin-off), Alea Srl, the LCA Working Group (Università di Modena e Reggio Emilia spin-offs).

The WRF encourages suppliers to take inspiration from its Hub of Verified Solutions by    undergoing the assessment process and demonstrate the credibility of their green  solution. “Your participation is crucial to our collective sustainability efforts,” it says.

The WRF’s initiator is Dr, Vienna Eleuteripr Vienna who works with governments and communities to introduce sustainable practices and adaptive technologies that reduce vulnerability to climate change and promote sustainable development.
