SCHIEDAM – VETUS, the global leader in bow thruster technology, has unveiled a BOW PRO thruster for 140 mm tunnels for vessels up to 9m (30ft). Its brushless induction motor yields long runtimes eliminating maintenance-related downtime.
The advanced BOWA0401 technology improves maneuverability in tight situations where the thruster can be activated for longer runs to assist the vessel’s turn rate, even in rough conditions.
The thruster is highly efficient thanks to the 40 kgf output and patented MCV intelligent motor controller. The VETUS motor controller regulates the maintenance-free brushless induction motor, ensuring the thruster is highly efficient and quiet.
BOW PRO thrusters will run 10 minutes at full power and even longer at a lower rpm – only limited by the battery pack size – without fear of overheating issues. There are three 140 mm GRP tunnel lengths: 750mm, 1000mm or 1500mm. The BOWA0401 can be easily retrofitted to most boats up to m.
The thruster can be linked to the VETUS V-CAN system, doing away with complicated wiring. And once installed, it provides fingertip proportional control allowing the helmsman to vary power output as needed for hassle-free docking.
Thijs Boegheim, Director of Sales EMEA VETUS, said the smaller boat thrusters “can transform the maneuverability of a vessel, and simple installation allows them to be fitted and the boat back in the water in no time. They are very easy to use. Our partnerships with Yamaha and Mercury take manoeuvrability to the next level.”
Adding a VETUS BOW PRO thruster to a Yamaha Helm Master EX or Mercury JPO-equipped boat dramatically improves the slow speed authority and ease of berthing, he added.
