SCHIEDAM – When you see a boat show, VETUS, the Dutch developer and builder of boat systems, cannot be far away. At the 2023 In-water HISWA, VETUS will update visitors on its latest exploits in electric boating at stand 02A.

VETUS markets compact, complete and highly efficient E-Drives that are suitable for both newbuilds and repowering/retrofitting. The zero-emission drives use the V-CAN bus control system and meet all current and future emission requirements.

The patented VETUS E-Drive motor controllers are specially developed for electric boating. They feature an integrated step-up battery charger capable of charging a 48V lead-acid battery bank using a 24V power supply.

Another unique feature is active braking, which gives users natural and full control over the boat.

VETUS offers E-LINE in-line propeller shaft solutions and the compact E-POD solution. The motor selection depends on multiple parameters such as hull shape.

The compact E-LINE motor range will fit existing propulsion foundations and propeller shaft installations. The supplied Swap & Go mounting brackets, with motor mounts specifically developed for electric propulsion motors, can easily be adjusted in height and set to angle the shaft to 0° or 8°. This makes repowering and connecting to an existing propeller shaft a simple task.

VETUS’ E-POD

The E-POD combines the motor, suspension, cooling, gearbox, clutch, propeller shaft and propeller into one complete system. This space-saving solution makes the engine box and through-boat propeller shaft redundant, opening up the floor space. This makes a completely new boat design possible.
