Vanquish VQ32

When the call came through for a tender that would be more than just a shuttle to sea, Vanquish embraced the challenge with unmatched finesse. The client’s ambition was clear: a powerful companion for a grand yacht, one that could slip perfectly into a tender bay with barely a millimeter to spare. But reality often teaches us humility—tender models off the shelf rarely align with a vessel’s architecture, and the crane’s limits can be less forgiving than expected.

This is where the art of bespoke creation comes alive. Commissioned to craft the VQ32 Special Edition, the designers from Studio Delta leaned into collaboration: they immersed themselves in the yacht’s geometry, worked closely with Vanquish’s yard, and engaged directly with the yacht’s crew. The result was more than a tender; it was a seamless extension of the mother ship.

A photograph might hint at the constraint—the bay’s headroom so tight that the tender’s cabin nearly kisses its ceiling, and a forepeak cradle intruding where space had none to spare. Yet while drafting lines on a drawing board, the team had to account for not only size, but weight. The crane arms could lift each half of the tender with ease, but together, they nudged the structure of the yacht to its limits. It took rigorous technical assessments and safety monitoring on-site to ensure every movement remained within the bay’s—not just the tender’s—tolerances.

Meanwhile, beneath the sculpted aluminum hull, the spirit of performance pulsed strong. The Vanquish VQ32, a 32-foot marvel born from Tom Steentjes’s personal vision, had always embodied a rare blend of agility and comfort—the original walk-around layout setting a standard for high-performance hospitality. Now, in this Special Edition, that character was reimagined. The twin V6 diesels and precise hull dimensions—fully aligned to the superyacht’s constraints—enabled a tender that didn’t just ride the waves; it owned them, while folding into its berth as though it had always belonged there.

This vessel is more than a boat. It’s a collaboration, a solution to a spatial puzzle, and a tribute to the craftsmanship of Dutch yachtbuilding. In every curve and calculated ounce of weight, it tells the story of a team daring to fit power into precision—and succeeding with elegance.
