HELLEVOETSLUIS – Responding to strong demand from the region, Vaan Yachts, the Dutch builder of sustainable luxury catamarans, has opened a North American sales office in Miami. Recently, winning the Multihull of the Year Award for its R5 model accelerated the decision to acquire a North American footprint.

“We already have several customers and a strong interest in the US and Canada, and we recognize they value direct contact with the shipyard,” says Igor Kluin, Vaan Yachts CEO and co-founder. The Vaan office in Miami will serve the residents of the USA, Canada, Bahamas, and the US Virgin Islands for delivery worldwide. Sailors interested in owning a Vaan can contact Vaan North America.
“Vaan Yachts is the ultimate catamaran for sailors who value sustainability, luxury and autonomy,” says David Greco. “With unmatched personalization, each Vaan is as unique as its owner. My objective is to provide this same experience during the buying process.”
Kluin says his yard decided to work exclusively “with a few, carefully selected agents in key markets instead of through a traditional dealer network. This enables seamless collaboration and superior service that our discerning clientele expects.”
The Vaan office in Miami will deliver worldwide to USA, Canada, Bahamas, and the US Virgin Islands residents.
“Therefore, we decided to provide a local presence and experienced yachting advisor to provide great personal attention to buyers in this vibrant market. After an extensive search, we are pleased to announce that David Greco, an industry veteran based in Miami, will head our expansion into the North American region.”
Greco adds: “Vaan Yachts is the ultimate catamaran for sailors who value sustainability, luxury and autonomy. With unmatched personalization, each Vaan is as unique as its owner. My objective is to provide this same experience during the buying process.”
“We have decided to work exclusively with a few carefully selected agents in key markets instead of through a traditional dealer network. This enables seamless collaboration and superior service that our discerning clientele expects,” says Kluin
A relative newcomer, he began marketing the world’s “most sustainable luxury sailing yacht,” a 12.8m (42ft) catamaran made almost entirely of circular materials, including recycled aluminum. The maiden Vaan was the R4. It tackles an acute yachting problem: the manufacture of polyester boats that are too difficult or too pricey to recycle when no longer used.
In Europe alone, 78,000 boats are scrapped and burned annually, causing significant CO2 emissions. Less than 3% are dismantled. The R4 is built with recycled aluminum from Hydro, the Norwegian aluminum and renewable energy giant. It can be recycled.

An essential construction material is the Hydro 75R alloy, which contains at least 75% recycled aluminum from window frames, license plates, traffic signs, and other items. Other sustainable materials include ‘teak-look’ FSC-certified decking cork.
A combination of recycled fabrics and bio fabrics made from pineapple leaves is used for the upholstery. By now, Kluin markets three catamarans: The R4 (42ft), the R5 (49ft) and the R6 (58ft).
