HELLEVOETSLUIS — Vaan Yachts, the Dutch maker of very chic multihull sailing yachts has won the 2024 Multihull of the Year Award with its R5 in the Sail Cruising category.
The competition is an initiative of sailing magazine Multihulls World and the International Multihull Boat Show in La Grande Motte in southern France.
The nominations were announced at the 2024 Miami Boat Show. Igor Kluin, co-founder and director of Vaan Yachts, said, “Winning a prize is, of course, great, but winning a public award is absolutely fantastic.”
He added that the award honors the work of his team and proves “that sustainability, luxury, and performance go perfectly well together. We would therefore like to thank all the people who voted for us.”
Multihulls World magazine and the International Multihull Boatshow organize an annual competition for catamarans and trimarans. In this competition, the public can vote for their favorite multihulls in four categories: Sail Cruising, Sail performance, Motor Cats and Multiyachts.
Vaan Yachts was founded in 2019 by Nienke van ’t Klooster and Igor Kluin with the aim of uniting sustainability and luxury.
In Hellevoetsluis, Vaan builds exclusive sustainable sailing yachts from recycled aluminum. The R5 is Vaan Yachts’ second model. In 2023, the R4 was already nominated in the Sustainability category, and this model also won the Hiswa Boat of the Year Award.
