MONNICKENDAM – Royal Hakvoort Shipyard has begun finishing work on its project YN254, a 65m (213ft) superyacht that will be the yard’s largest to date.

The yacht, says the yard, will have a wide beam of 11.6m (38ft), a volume of 1,435GT  GT  and feature “a carefully considered balance of indoor and outdoor spaces.”

The Gebroeders Buijs Shipyard built the hull that was recently towed into the Royal Hakvoort yard in the picture-postcard town of Monnickendam, just north of Amsterdam. The company announced the order for the yacht on Jan. 18, 2022. Delivery is scheduled for 2025.

It was sold to a regular customer in close cooperation with the Fraser international brokerage house that specializes in the sale and purchase of very chic yachts of over 30m (98ft).

The as-yet-unnamed yacht will feature a large main deck pool, ringed by a lounge, a beach club, a sundeck with a Jacuzzi and a massage room and library on the bridge deck. The yacht can accommodate 14 guests. The yacht will have a beam of 11.6m and a volume of 1,435 GT.

According to Royal Hakvoort co-owner Klaas Hakvoort, the 65m yacht “is another milestone” in his yard’s history. “The vessel is the largest in size and tonnage ever to be built by our yard.”

The interior and exterior come from the drawing tables of Sinot Yacht Design. The naval architecture, construction and technical design are provided by Diana Yacht Design.

Royal Hakvoort boasts over a century of shipbuilding experience. Recognizing its heritage, the Dutch government granted the yard the right, in 2020, to add the moniker “Royal” to its name. This designation is only given to companies rendering an impeccable level of service for more than 100 years.

Monnickendam (pop: 10,000) was founded centuries ago. Royal Hakvoort Shipyards has operated for over a century, first catering to the local fishing industry by building fishing vessels, and later moving into luxury and pleasure craft.
