AMSTERDAM – The 2022 Metstrade Show (Nov. 15-17), the world’s largest exhibition of gear, materials and systems for the global marine industry, has opened nominations for its Dame Design awards. They will close on Sept. 16.
The DAME awards salute the merits of good design – aesthetics, functionality, innovation, practicality, price-to-performance ratio and presentation. Entries are judged in seven categories by a jury of eight chaired by Dutch yacht designer Andre Hoek.

All DAME-nominated products will be shown at the Metstrade show in Amsterdam’s RAI convention complex. The category and overall award winners are revealed at the opening day’s Breakfast Briefing.
The DAME event is the annual highlight of the global marine equipment sector. The 2021 winner, Volvo Penta, found the award to be about “not just innovative design but a dedication to continuous improvements in all aspects of the creative process.”
After the TEMO 450 electric outboard won the 2020 DAME Excellence in Adversity Award, Sales and Marketing Director Justine Perussel said, “Because of the DAME win and Metstrade, we had a lot of visibility which generated a rush of interest and many messages from all around the world.”
The registration fee for an award nomination is €150. The fees are donated to charities. This year’s beneficiary – the World Sailing Trust – runs projects in two areas: People and Planet, promoting participation and access to sailing and safeguarding the world’s waters for future generations. The DAME Design Award at Metstrade was launched in 1991 to promote design across all disciplines.
Hundreds of marine sector companies have had their design achievements recognized and promoted. To participate, go to: dame@rai.nl or visit www.metstrade.com/awards. RAI Amsterdam organizes the annual Metstrade Show with the International Council of Marine Industry Associations (ICOMIA).
