AMSTERDAM – Fair Lady was built in 1928, and over the next 93 years, the 7m/121ft motor yacht underwent several refits.
By late 2021, Huisfit – the refit, rebuild and renewal unit of Dutch superyacht builder Royal Huisman – began an upgrade across two years. Huisfit restored the yacht’s classic looks by drawing on the design, craftsmanship, and engineering know-how of its sister companies, Royal Huisman and Rondal.
The extensive refurbishing underlines Huisfit’s growing name in yacht refurbishing. “The on-time and successful relaunch of Fair Lady is the result of intensive and fruitful teamwork among everyone at Huisfit, as well as the thoughtful owner of Fair Lady and his representatives,” says Huisfit Manager Stefan Coronel.
Catering to a broad spectrum of new and repeat clients, Huisfit offers everything from refurbishment to classification-driven refits and maintenance work to complete reconfigurations.
Huisfit began phase one in November 2021. It included hull repairs and painting, varnish repairs, and maintenance of the engines, gensets, and stabilizers. The cooling water system was replaced, and tanks were cleaned and repaired. Interior work included a new main salon, galley, and pantry with updated equipment installations. The guest cabins were refurbished, and new carpets were installed.

This took only three months and enabled Fair Lady’s owner to enjoy the 2022 spring and summer seasons. In September 2022, Fair Lady returned to Amsterdam for phase two: stripping the engine room, overhauling the twin Gardener engines, and installing new gensets and stabilizers.
Also, further hull repairs were made, necessitating additional hull painting. The refit’s crowning glory, says Huisfit, was an entirely new bridge. “Thanks to the owner’s vision to preserve Fair Lady’s heritage, this classic motor yacht will not become forgotten history,” says Coronel.
