MEPPEL – Holterman Shipyard is adding a 78ft (29.7m) flybridge version to its Xtreme series: the newcomer, a Bernd Weel design, will be delivered in early 2024.
The Xtreme 78 Sport served as the basis for the flybridge version. “Together with Bernd Weel, we developed the Xtreme 78 Sport so we could convert it into a flybridge variant,” says Julian van Santen, Holterman Shipyard’s sales and operations manager.
“The X78 Fly shares the same structure up to the top of the superstructure glazing. Only the structure above the glazing has been modified to accommodate the flybridge.”
The Flybridge has retained the sporty character and dynamic look of the Xtreme 78 Sport and has a large inside volume. Below deck, amidships is the owner’s cabin plus two double VIPs and one guest cabin. The deck-level salon forms a whole with the steering cabin.
The interior is solid wood, combined with natural stone or composite materials in the kitchen and bathrooms.
Holterman Shipyard offers much freedom in materials, such as wall coverings, wood types, door hardware, bathroom fittings and more, so customers build their yachts; the yard strives for an efficient production process. VanSanten: “This approach lets us preserve our interiors’ authentic and traditional feel while increasing efficiency and precision during production.
The spacious cockpit and integrated swimming platform at the stern offer even more outdoor experience, close to the sea. Weel added a sturdy bench at the stern, located directly on the swim platform. A hydraulically operated aluminum platform at the stern can lift a tender of up to 1,000 kg.
The Xtreme 78 Flybridge has advanced technology, such as a watermaker, a Humphree All Speed stabilization system, retractable capstans on the foredeck, and a telescopic anchor system.
In addition, the vessel is equipped with a FLIR thermal camera in the engine room to monitor systems. In contrast, an extended FLIR thermal imaging camera on the mast provides additional safety for man-over-board procedures or identifying hazards at night.
All this brings the level of safety of a superyacht aboard the Xtreme. Additional features include a 22.5kW generator, an electric shore power reel, air conditioning and floor heating. The maiden X78 Fly has two powerful diesels, but a hybrid option is possible.
