Boot Düsseldorf will host launch of Environmental Officer Course

BRUSSELS – Continuing its leadership in boosting sustainability across Europe’s boating sector, the 2024 Boot Duesseldorf will see the launch of a free online Environmental Officer Course for industry professionals.

The course is part of a Europe-wide drive to address environmental challenges in the nautical tourism sector so the whole industry can transition toward more sustainability and environmental protection.

The aim is to improve knowledge of environmental laws, pollution control, and waste management through the EU-funded Environaut project that will create an “Environmental Officer in Nautical Tourism” through a modular online course.

The EnviroNaut course will be accessible free of charge at www.environaut.eu

The launch event starts Monday, Jan. 22, 2024, at Boot Düsseldorf with a panel discussion on skills for sustainable nautical tourism and a presentation of the EnviroNaut course at the Blue Innovation Dock stage at 16:00. Environaut is an Erasmus+ project funded by the European Union.

Panelists include Karsten Stahlhut, Managing Director of the German Marine Association, Frank Schweikert (Founder, German Ocean Foundation) and Stavros Katsikadis, President of the Greek Marinas Association, among others.

The EnviroNaut team invites industry professionals, stakeholders, and the public to join us at Boot Düsseldorf 2024 and embark on this transformative journey toward a more sustainable future for nautical tourism.

The EnviroNaut course comprises five online modules: an introductory one on “Ocean Literacy” and four specialized modules for workers in marinas, sea schools and watersport clubs, skippers, and Maintenance Companies.

Upon completion, participants receive an Environmental Officer certificate that will reflect well on boating sector companies.
