FLUSHING—Alewijnse, the Dutch all-around systems integrator, has completed the electrical systems integration onboard the 197-foot Amels 60 Satemi, the first vessel in the Amels 60 series to be built with a full hybrid notation.
Alewijnse’s project manager Christian Devescovi says: “The yacht marks a new milestone toward an even more sophisticated and sustainable yachting experience. She is the first in her class to be built to achieve a full hybrid notation, so is equipped with the highest technology standards.”
A “full hybrid notation” yacht has been designed and built with a hybrid electric power system. Such a system combines traditional internal combustion engine-driven generators and a shaft generator driven by the main engine with an Energy Storage System (ESS) consisting of batteries, supercapacitors, fuel cells, or other technologies.
The result is a power generation and propulsion system that can operate in various modes, offering improved fuel efficiency, fewer emissions, and potentially quieter operation. “Just as with the first three Amels 60 superyachts, Alewijnse has provided a comprehensive package of electrical installation and systems integration,” says Devescovi.
“Besides the hybrid propulsion and EES, this includes those delivering the navigation and communication capabilities, onboard audio-video, and IT platforms and hardware.”
Descovi emphasizes the sophistication of the audio/video information and communication system. “She has been extensively customized to meet the owner’s preferences. She features a next-generation Samsung wall panel, a completely new innovation for the maritime sector, offering a stunning cinema experience in the Bridge Deck Saloon.”
The Amels-60 boasts a modern yacht design. Despite her relatively compact size and crew requirement in the low teens, the Amels 60 series delivers an exceptional onboard and outdoor experience for the owner and up to 12 guests.
The accommodation includes six VIP suites, all fitted to the highest standards and with advanced infotainment systems. Damen Yachting has already sold six Amels 60s. “Our electrical and automation systems are known for their reliability, high quality and versatility,” says Descovi.
Alewijnse specializes in electrification and automation solutions for the yachting, naval, governmental, dredging, offshore, and industrial sectors.
