KRIMPEN AAN DE IJSSEL – Dutch system integrators Alewijnse and Tijssen Elektro have merged to boost their presence in the superyacht market with electrical engineering and automation solutions to deliver added value and reach new customers.
Folding Tijssen into Alewijnse Group will result in “advanced electrical system integration for all types of yachts from 30 to 130m (98.5 to 427ft),” the two companies said in a joint statement.
The merger took effect on June 1. It reflects a shared vision for electrical engineering and automation in yacht building. “Being a single organization will stimulate innovation,” the two companies said. “Together, we can expand our activities and capabilities and offer even more innovative solutions to our customers in the increasing complexity of their projects.”
Tijssen works on luxury yachts to 60m (197ft). Alewijnse is a market leader in electrical installation, system integration and automation for motor and sailing yachts to 130m.
“Together, we will be the to-go-to technology partner. Said Alewijnse CEO Gert Bravenboer. “From consulting, engineering and installation to commissioning, service and maintenance. It’s a perfect fit.”
Tijssen Elektro owner Pedro Kappen said the two privately-owned companies “complement each other. We stop where Alewijnse starts.” In one fell swoop, “the merged company can handle yacht projects “from 30 right up to 130 meters.”
Sjaak van der Laan, segment manager of yachts at Alewijnse, also sees a bright future ahead. “Tijssen Elektro is a logical choice for a partnership with Alewijnse, as we have been working together on projects for smaller luxury yachts for many years.”
