Breedendam Yachts’ Eightzero Sport targets Med, US clients

LEEUWARDEN –  Breedendam Yachts has revealed its latest superyacht concept: The 24m convertible Eightzero sports yacht, a design of Guido de Groot, who was also responsible for designing the WW2 British Navy-inspired 12m Breedendam Fourzero and 18m Sixzero models.

The Eightzero aims to “take a fresh look at what a classy gentleman’s sport yacht should look like,” says De Groot. He tried out new lines to make a more aggressive 24m vessel that packs a striking appeal for clients in the Mediterranean. Also, “We expect to be particularly popular with the American market,” adds De Groot.

Breedendam Yachts has a global service & support network and says it can dispatch hands-on support wherever, if required.

The Eightzero features various interior layouts and propulsion options and has a large outdoor entertainment deck with different seating areas, including one in front of the wheelhouse. There is also a spacious, multifunctional aft deck that is perfect for guests to relax, take in their surroundings and deploy tenders and toys. The yacht’s aft garage houses a WaveRunner tender and other water toys.

Much attention has gone into exterior and interior spaces. The large main deck aft cockpit area can quickly become part of the saloon area once it is closed off. The Eightzero can accommodate eight guests in a master cabin, a VIP cabin and a guest stateroom, all with full baths. There is also a cabin for two crew members.

The Eightzero can be powered by three Volvo Penta IPS 1200 engines or – for speed enthusiasts – twin MTU or MAN engines for a top speed of 40+ knots. De Groot said, “We are already quite far on with the design” so that construction could be completed within two years, “providing we had the right client interest.”

Since 1976, Breedendam has built a reputation as a pioneer in building traditional high-end luxury yachts such as the MTB 30 and 33. Inspired by the classic British Motor Torpedo Boat from the 1920s, its MTB series spans nine models, all retro yachts with good sailing characteristics. Building on the success of the MTB 30 and 33, the yard recently developed a series of new models.
